..Alright. I saw this impending closing of the internet sharing coming a long time...an I really don't like it, because it goes against all forms of freedom, a place where we used to roam free on the net without surveillance...and now that is coming to an end. I don't know who's out there who's seeing this, but for those who are able to DO something about it...we possibly need new protocols to ensure anonymity on the internet....new measures of having freedom. There are just two varying sides on the same topic(music industry- I listen/watch one time purpose) and rather than slug it out wit them, its time to get SMART. They are fighting on ground with legislation, while as people on the internet are fighting with their comments, its obvious who's going to win that one....government and 'the man' who is making the rules as he goes along. we have a great COLLECTIVE POWER on the internet, and they will try to divide it up and mange every section so that we remain as they would have it..divided...and unabl

Couldn't tpb just open another more secretive version of the site for UK member's only? perhaps on several ip addresses without the domains? Also i guarantee they'd be able to overcome this policy by making the judge read a damn tutorial on wireless internet. Maybe then he'd stop illegally infringing the rights of strip dancers by buying hookers and turn to internet porn instead so he wont have to go on business trips to keep the wife guessing.

I'm willing to collect several links to tutorials, articles (mainly about the RIAA's deceit), and actual 'legal' torrent links for TPB, and put them on my site. Also if anyone want's to help just send me an e-mail to [email protected]

I'll use Hollywood and the movie industry for my argument here:
The thing that the people of Hollywood and other mass media need to realize is, if you actually create something that is amazing and has actual quality, and not something that is recycled and recycled nearly word for word from a idea born 30+ years ago (ie: Dukes of Hazzard, Bewitched, Death Race, The Wicker Man... this list could go for hours), people WILL pay to see it and there's a fair possibly they may even buy it later, and The Dark Knight is a prime example of this. Hell, even a movie like Avatar (again, recycled idea - Fern Gully, Dances With Wolves or Pocahontis all over again (how did it take you 20 years to write this Cameron?) - but it was worth seeing at least once because it was the 3D that made the movie and I don't even like 3D movies. I know it's not possible to come up with a near $1billion box office title every year, but COME ON! Try to give us something even remotely original instead of sequel after sequal and 1970-1980

In the UK the only filtering that currently happens is from the IWF, which provides a filter list to ISP's for child porn sites. People don't mind that (unless they make mistakes and block a genuine site which has happened), but changing that to try to police the internet in this way is hardly going to be popular.

That said, the most likely outcome will just be an increase in the use of proxies, and it's quite practical to set up (for free and in only a few mins) a simple system which will send certain website requests through the proxy and leave the others as direct connections (I have foxyproxy on Firefox directing sites of my choice to tor). You suffer a speed hit by doing that but it works.

And of course you don't need fast download speeds to access torrents on the pirate bay, torrent files tend to be very small and with the recent move to magnet links it's even easier. Once your client has the magnet link there's no way to filter that because it becomes distributed.

Everybody loves to interfere to make Hollywood and the music companies happy. But really? It's like all the governments have come together in some big meeting and said, "Hey, let's all make the Pirate Bay illegal in our countries!" It seems as if it's working.

I live in the UK, and I use TPB almost every day. This ISP block doesn't worry me in the slightest. There is always a way around it. I won't be surprised if the entertainment industry use this to get some money from ISP's, because that's what it's all about to them... isn't it?!

If so, would it not be a good idea that we know this information so that it is possible for anyone to host such a system just like this...This way we could become widely distributed network of torrent-tracker systems...what do you all think?

How do we seperate the ISPs from the Media conglomerates?

Because as long as your service provider is owned by the same people desperately clinging to fallacious ideas of owning information and controlling creativity, the internet and all our communications will continue this downhill slide towards a Heinlein-esque hellscape of thought police and indoctrination over education.

Kill the media, fire the representatives. Let the people rule and set the ideas free.
